Koermann Block – Ukrainian Bookstore Building (10234 96 Street)

The Koermann BlockĀ at the corner of 1905 and 1920 Street in Fort Edmonton Park is a recreation of the historic Koermann Block (aka Ukrainian Bookstore) from old Edmonton. It was at the corner of 96 Street and 102a Avenue. But here is where it gets interesting. The building is still there and looks pretty much as it would have in the 1920s on the outside – I have no idea about the inside. The original is a bit longer than the recreation (with extra windows and an extra door), but otherwise they are very close.

So check it out below – as it was, as it is and as it has been recreated. šŸ˜‰

The windows on Points of Interest 3 and 4 look different than in the 1920s photo, but considering the size, location and style of these houses I think they are matches to those in the old photo.
